Listening Aurelien has a good understanding of spoken English at this level. He can demonstrate this by making appropriate responses orally or in written form. He always asks for clarification when he is unsure. Sometimes he needs to rely on his own ability rather than depending on other students for explanations.
Speaking Aurelien has worked well in pair activities and group discussion. He always responds quickly to questions asked of him and is quick to offer answers to questions aimed at the whole group.
Reading Aurelien can read and comprehend most of what he reads at this level. He seeks clarification when he doesn't understand the meaning of new words. His general understanding is good but he needs to take care when extracting specific detail.
Writing Aurelien has worked hard at his writing. He has practised constructing longer sentences and using linking words to introduce into his writing. He has some good ideas for writing but needs to ensure that he can express his ideas suitably in English, rather than trying to translate from French. This should enable him to write at a faster pace.
Grammar Aurelien has a fair knowledge of most grammar concepts at this level and is keen to learn new structures. He is able to apply new structures intelligently in different situations.
Vocabulary Aurelien has increased his vocabulary during his stay and makes a determined effort to learn new words and expressions. He has learnt how to predict meanings from the context of a passage. As he continues to increase his range of vocabulary other areas of language will also improve.
Teacher's General Comments Aurelien has made a lot of improvement in his English. He has gained confidence in his own ability and has made a good effort to further his learning. He applies himself with enthusiasm to everything he undertakes.
Activities Aurelien has participated in a wide range of activities during his stay and has made the most of his experience.
